A View from the Bridge

One of my favorite walks is across the bridge to Ohio. This walk was especially interesting as two tows with barges passed under the bridge. Such a different perspective than the view of them from my windows at home. Very interesting textures and structures.

An Experiment with Texture

Parts of a experimental texture painting- I like the parts better than the whole- will work on this technique some more in the future.

A little Anti- Trompe L'Oeil Project

Started out as a bit of a reaction to trompe l'oeil paintings. Old tin toy violin assemblage with antique sheet music. Mixed media.

More Kentucky Photographs- Straight from the Camera

Architectural details found in downtown Flemingsburg, Ky.

These are straight from the camera, no editing or manipulating. I'm working on my little netbook and have no editing programs at the moment. The purpose of my photography is to find and record unique architectural details, textures, shadows or reflections - it is an exercise in seeing what we normally pass right by.

The oddest steeple I have ever seen

Iron star with a purpose- not made in China decoration for ranch homes

Iron fence with historic church

Presbyterian Church 1819 - note the 12 over 12 windows

Sorry about the 7up machine but it's a consequence of modern life, whoops, I see a garbage can too. This is so not Central Ohio where I just came from, where everything is high tech and costly, I like this so much better. Somehow just a lot more sane.

Incredible totem poles at the Herman Chittison Celebration of the Arts in Flemingsburg- carved by Louis Magda from Morehead, Ky.

A Fascination with Hands

Multimedia work with hands, or hamsas, to keep away the pesky evil eye. Maps used in these usually have meanings pertinent to the art.

Quirky Art Shrines that Have a Purpose

This one's purpose is pretty transparent- I forgot to take pic's of the inside of the top part- will get that to you eventually.

I guess I know what this one is supposed to be saying but it's just to dismal to discuss.

Just a silly take on the old fortune telling machines- this has been altered a bit since the picture was taken
Anti- Prescription Drug Shrine- Too many have been brainwashed by "modern medicine", taking an overload of drugs and harmed in the process.

Seems OK at first- gosh, the doctor who knows all is prescribing them after all

Something goes wrong on the inside

Buddha Shrine to Bring Calming of the Mind so Action can be Taken- for a friend

The numbers have significance

Exterior done to look like aged leather- really it's paper mache

An antique Chinese Buddha sits in the shrine

Interior is aged

The Get My Friend to the Desert Art Shrine

Beer can Airstream gets an Arabic Magic Square to help it be more... well, magical

Arizona, New Mexico, any desert will do

My Find Me a Cheap House in Kentucky on The Ohio River Shrine- hey this one worked!

If I couldn't find a house I would have settled for a tipi

Or a big shack- wish I hadn't cut up that dollar- I could use it!
